I'm 33 and married to Brandan Rogers. We have two kids Embrie Kate Rogers and Parker Reese Rogers. We live in Albertville,AL. I work for Boaz City Schools in Maintenance.
Graduated from Geraldine High School in 2001. Played Football and baseball. My high school football coach Tim Cochran taught me that hard work, determination and mental toughness could get you along ways in life no matter what obstacle stood in your path. I believe what I learned through football gets me through the pain and suffering you go through in life and on the race course.
I started running some while in college at Snead State CC just because my buddy Adam Moore push me to while we worked out. We would run a mile or two. He's was not only a great friend but my first training partner. We put alot a work in at the gym and running around town. He was killed in a car wreck and I drifted away from the gym and running. It just wasn't the same with out him.
In 2013 my wife signed me up for my first ever race. It's just a 5k she said! So I started running some to prepare for the race. The Race To Remember 5k was my first race and I was hooked! I started training to get faster because I knew I was gonna run more race. An old high school buddy and team mate Josh Powell post his Barbarian Challenge pictures on Facebook and I was determined to sign up and run. I finished 52nd and wanted to quit about three times during the race. Crossing that finish line I was already thinking what I had to do to get better for next year. I was an OCR racer and love it.
My favorite part of racing now is coming home and no matter where I finished, first or last my kids are so excited and wanna wear my medals. I feel like daddy always wins in there eyes. So I train now not only to improve myself but to teach my kids hard work , determination and mental toughness will always get you through life.
